About

Catherine Baggett is a fine art photographer based out of Southwest Louisiana. Using the common association of memory that most connect with photographs, she strives to create images with a dreamlike atmosphere, which evoke a sense of nostalgia or longing for a time or place unknown. Her work explores the whimsy and imagination found beneath the mundane by creating an otherworldly environment for her subjects to live.

She often uses illustrative methods to help fill in blank areas of human perception by incorporating experimental and mixed media processes. Inspired by masters of the photographic medium, such as Ralph Gibson, Catherine uses light and shadow to reveal the unique sensibility of the subject. Her photos vary from refined minimalism to controlled chaos, while retaining an overall sense of ethereality.
